Open to girls and boys over six and under the age specified on July 31st 2019

Age groups:

Girls and boys over six and under 8,10, 12, 14 and 16 years old.

An invitation is extended to girls and boys resident in the Arklow area to please paint, draw, sketch or collage an exhibit with a community games theme for our 2019 area art competitions.

Exhibit may be a painting or a drawing or a collage or a cartoon.

The title of the exhibit must be clearly marked on the front of the exhibit.

Competitors name, address, date of birth and home phone contact number must be clearly marked on the back of the exhibit.

Exhibits must be with Sadie O’Reilly, 17 Fernhill, Arklow, County Wicklow on or before closing date of Friday 1st of March 2019

Judging and presentation of area medals will take place in March

The best two exhibits in each age group will be forwarded to the county games committee for a second round of judging competitions.

Qualifiers will go forward to represent their area at the County Live art finals in Dunlavin National School on Sunday the 28th of April 2019.

Art, athletics, ball throw, basketball, badminton,  chess, camogie, cross country, culture corner, cycling on grass, draughts, debating, discus, gymnastics, gaelic football, group drama, group singing, group dance, group music, hand writing, hurling, high jump, hurdles, judo, javelin, long puck, long jump, model making, marathon, projects, pitch and putt, rounders, relays, swimming, soccer, skittles, shot putt, solo singing, solo dance, solo music, solo recitation, table tennis, table quiz, tag rugby

Our aim is to encourage and foster community spirit and a love of sport and culture among the members of the community and most particularly amongst the young people.​
In 2018 250 children whose ages ranged from four to sixteen years participated in six different types of sporting and cultural activities at area, county, provincial and national level. They competed in Art, Athletics, Gymnastics, Hand Writing, Swimming and Talent.​
It is not the winning that is most important, it is the taking part.​

Eight Arklow Community Games athletes will head for Shillelagh this Saturday 16th of June to represent their area at the county track and field finals.

Congratulations and well done to our gymnasts and swimmers on their excellent performances at the 2018 National Community Games May Festival Gymnastics and Swimming finals which took place at the University of Limerick recently, no medals but these fifteen athletes did their area and county proud.

County awards 2018

Arklow Community Games was awarded the Lily Kavanagh Perpetual Shield for best area in county gymnastics and the Tom Nolan Perpetual Shield for best area in county swimming.
